You Were Never Meant to Read This

In You Were Never Meant to Read This, Indian author Shrijeet Shandilya returns with an emotional contemporary romance exploring the lingering wounds of young love and the challenges of moving on. Following the events of Can We Be Strangers Again?, the novel centers on Dev as he transitions into adult life. Fifteen months after an agonizing separation from Tanishka, he has seemingly built the perfect future, complete with a demanding MBA degree and an enviable corporate career. Yet beneath the professional routine lies an unresolved past, marked by unread memories, an unsent confession, and a phone number he could never bring himself to delete.

When an unexpected message suddenly appears on his phone with the simple request to meet once more, everything Dev thought he had buried resurfaces. Unlike the idealistic days of college, adult relationships demand difficult choices, raw honesty, and confrontations with unresolved guilt. Shandilya captures the fragile vulnerability between former lovers who must navigate lingering grief and unspoken truths. Readers who enjoy emotional coming-of-age fiction, second-chance love stories, and candid examinations of contemporary Indian relationships will find Dev and Tanishka's journey deeply resonant.
