The Japanese Secret to a Long and Happy Life

By Héctor García, Francesc Miralles, Heather Cleary (translator)No reviews yet

Ikigai explores the Japanese idea that a long and happy life comes from knowing your reason for getting up each morning. Drawing on interviews with some of the world's longest-living people, especially in Okinawa, Héctor García and Francesc Miralles set out the habits, attitudes and daily routines that keep body and mind in good shape well into old age. The book looks at diet, movement, community, work and the small rituals that give life meaning, and shows how readers anywhere can bring them into their own days. First published in Spanish in 2016, it became an international bestseller and is translated into English by Heather Cleary. Short, calm and easy to dip into, this hardcover suits readers of self-help and popular psychology, anyone curious about Japanese culture, and anyone looking for simple, practical ideas on living well and ageing better.
